The 3rd and final digital Workshop on Inclusive Theatre Practices took place, on June 14, 2023.
Sofia Stavrakaki, Creative Producer from THEAMA – Inclusive Theatre conducted the Workshop “The non-Disabled Director’s Perspective and Approach to Inclusive Theatre Practices”, within the framework of the Creative Europe project D.I.V.A – Diversity, Inclusion and Visibility in Arts. Designed as friendly for ALL, with over 75 participants, from 4 countries, with a live simultaneous translation in a separate sound channel in Polish, live Greek Sign Language interpreting and the first 45 minutes of the workshop designed in a manner friendly to participants with learning and cognitive impairments in a ‘relaxed’ environment, the workshop was a digital challenge on accessibility for the disabled and non-disabled participants.
The importance of casting disabled actors, and their equal participation in theatre was discussed in detail.
The D.I.V.A. team would like to thank all those who participated and those who worked to make the Workshop a success in sharing knowledge and working towards a more inclusive and accessible world.
